Every shinobi received orders of some kind that they disliked, but so long as they did the job then their feelings on the matter didn’t mean anything. Even if it occasionally meant that the Captain of T&I stormed through the halls, oceanic eyes narrowed and shoulders squared off in his annoyance at the things he was made to do. This was one of those moments, guilt and disgust mixed with anger within the Yamanaka as he made his way towards the cell that held his newest prisoner. However, he supposed that wasn’t how he was expected to think of the man even if he were chained within the cell.

After all, they’d been given the command that the man was to be convinced that the snug bandages over those dangerous eyes were there so that he could heal. The truth of them being there so that it was actually possible for this mission to take place was never to be spoken of. Inoichi was supposed to tell the man that the chains were to keep him from hurting himself while unable to see, that he was there for his own safety while he healed. It was something that turned his stomach each time he thought about it.

Invading someone’s mind, finding dangers to the Leaf village, removing traumas, helping his own village, he had no issue with. But this was something completely different to him. This was taking a person apart until he wasn’t even sure if he’d left enough pieces for the man to be himself, or if he’d taken too much and would have a child within a man’s body instead. The man had finally started to speak, his confusion of things expressed and explained in accordance with the Hokage’s orders.

Taking a deep breath, the blond pushed down all of the feelings he had on the mission, focusing only on his orders, and pushed the door open. “Good morning, Uchiha-san.” The door closed behind him and he looked over the brunet, frowning sightly just at how the man looked sitting upon his bed.

“Can I bet let go?” He asks with such clear pain and hurry in his expression, glancing up immediately towards the sound of the voice. He’s stopped struggling. Powerful he may be, but they’d done something to strip him of most of his strength. He was worried he was completely blind for a bit, but at least felt his eyes moving  behind the bandages.

Maybe they were replaced, maybe he didn’t have the Sharingan– it’s this thought that finally gets him to struggle again, if weakly, pleading with a small noise. What happened to his family, with Sasuke… what about Shisui?

“Please…my family.”

lordy i’ve been following you for 4 years and people are still coming at you for a fictional ship

[[ it’s called an ad-hominem, when they can’t actually debunk you so they try to find something else which which to declare themselves morally superior. “lol u have an anime icon u fuckin scrub i’m not taking you seriously”, etc etc. ]]

let me make this PERFECTLY clear; ocs are not free from criticism, just like canon characters aren’t free from criticism. you personally are not free from criticism, and neither am i as a person; you asked for an opinion, you didn’t say where and how you wanted it to be said…. we gave you an opinion and then because it wasn’t people agreeing with you and coddling your poor baby sensabilities you had to go down this downward spiral of misconstruing my words.

you have no right to criticize an oc just because they say they are a member of the akatsuki; canon CAN change, and has been retconned several times. you can’t for the love of god tell oc’s who write their muses in the akatsuki that it’s unrealistic when you’re shoving your dirty FILTHY ideals about brother x brother in a almost pedophillic way WHEN THAT’S NOT CANON. THATS NEVER BEEN CANON.

“we have to keep our canon characters to a canon standard” esu says, while slurping up sasuita like it was crack.

anyways, candlefingers, turn off your monitor and move on.

[[ :3c @icewept you’re an anti too, i guess? Try not to ad-hominem, my shipping tastes have jack all to do with criticism of OCs. The most important part is it’s fictional. You lose so much credibility when you try to call me a pedophile. It’s actually not even worth responding to you because you tried to resort to a serious accusation over fictional shipping, but I’ll be nice.

I can see the point you’re trying to make here, in that by roleplaying canons we tear them out of their storyline and they get to do things that don’t happen in canon, we’re all guilty of that, sure.

When an OC claims to be a part of something that didn’t happen in my character’s timeline, that puts obligation on me, as a canon character. The point we’re all making is we have the right to say no. I pick and choose where my character strays from the strict canon events, not my partner. An OC claiming to be part of Akatsuki– what started this whole ordeal, directly makes a demand on my timeline and my events, something which I am not obligated to accept. There will be people out there who do accept it, and that’s okay, but I and others never will be, and it’s well within our right to outright reject these OCs that make insane, immediate demands to our characters. It’s like  someone from two cities over finding your address and claiming to be your long lost cousin, demanding your time, attention, and so on. ]]

you’re a fucking pedophile. tw:shota

[[ This reads “We need to end the culture that ALL OCs are perfect” op has never rp’d an OC have they”; this theme is super illegible but that’s not the point of this post.

@hijonaisha since you vagued me, here’s a direct response.

Secondly, if you’re gonna resort to assumptions, I have an OC. Two, actually. Here is the first, the other blog has been gone too long and is deactivated. She’s been my OC since 2009 and she was a blatant, awful self insert at first, and had it not been for proper criticism she would’ve stayed that way. We may share a name, as it’s also my online alias, but she’s a separate person. I RP’d OCs a long time before beginning to roleplay canon characters, I saw them intimidating, and I didn’t want to get them OOC. (It doesn’t stop people from playing canons really OOC, while we’re on the belief that only OCs get flak, anyways.)

I had never seen an environment where people were told to not ever criticize OCs until tumblr. It happened on iScribble, it happened on FB, it happened on dA…only tumblr is like this.

I still play this OC, but on other platforms.

I’ll say it again….by acting this aggressive/defensive over people saying some OCs need work, or don’t fit the rules that the media sets, you’re only playing into the culture that OCs cannot be criticized. What is the point of offense, anyways? I’m not obligated to write with you or any OC I dislike, just like you’re not obligated to write with me. ]]

[[ Apparently Akatsuki discussions started arguing so I’ll say my piece on it (lol)

Yes, sure, you can say the canons we play are basically someone else’s OCs (which is true), but look, canons get just as much scrutiny, I judge people’s portrayals often because I prefer them being close to canon. If a canon is OOC I will avoid them.

OCs must not break the established rules of canon, this is…basic stuff. You can’t just insert an OC into Akatsuki and expect them to be just as powerful, it’s what I said before– it’s a cheap way of getting to interact with or “be important to” desired canon characters without any of the real effort required. Kind of like “child of X canon character” OCs, they also fall under this.

Plus it creates this entitled behavior of “you have to accept my muse the way I write them and you have to write with me” and no, people don’t. No one has to play with me if they don’t like my Itachi, for example. I don’t have to play with anyone who’s portrayal I dislike, whether they’re an OC or canon. This belief that only OCs get flack for bios/strength is false, it applies to canon just as much.

We happen to have generally accepted views of what’s acceptable in a canon and an OC, and if you disagree, that’s fine, but don’t act like I am obligated to write with you.

A late edit, but the most important thing: We need to end the culture that ALL OCs are perfect, well-written, and  unable to be touched by any sort of criticism. It only fosters creators to be stale and to not ever improve. ]]
