Kakashi grunted as he injected the basic antidote, knowing that it probably wouldn’t do much more than slow it down. He rolled his eyes, still feeling the urge to snap at everything. “As if the medic’ll know how to deal with this. I’ve never even heard of any poison like this. My guess is that it attacks the –fuck, my cuts!– amygdala, causing emotional instability.”
Yeah no shit, Kakashi. He winced as his emotions began to turn onto himself, berating him into silence. He watched trees passed by, the pain fading into unpleasant aches. However his anger has not subsided. At all.
“Why were you here anyways? I thought you had a break from missions.”
“Skilled medics are also trained in creation of antidotes.” Itachi adds, slightly adjusting Kakashi’s position on his shoulder as he goes. His part was done, at least.
“You aren’t dead yet, Hatake-san. The only symptom you seem to have is a lack of filter and heightened emotions.” Or maybe they were just his regular emotions usually kept under lock and key. With what constituted one of the universal shinobi laws, it wouldn’t be a surprise at all.
“It’s likely meant to be used in place of interrogation or invasive mind jutsu.” Given the Yamanaka technique was strictly for Konohagakure…
“Instead of waiting for you to break, or risking the chance of mutilating your body in the hopes you will speak through pain, the poison serves as a means to get you to be honest. And I took another mission.” Itachi didn’t like breaks, he wasn’t going to become Hokage by constantly resting and letting other shinobi get into dangerous situations. The week off he’d been commanded to take when he graduated to Chuunin had been one of the most boring of his life.
