How do you feel about kakaita or nagaita

[[ I don’t like KakaIta and I feel its fandom overhypes anything they have. Kakashi and Itachi were never particularly close at all. Even if the novels made them team-members for a short while, they never spoke outside of work. Kakashi didn’t know Itachi, and Itachi wouldn’t make it a point to get to know Kakashi better.

Nagaita I was neutral on but its fandom ruined it for me. From claiming they were lovers in canon, to the whole “Uchiha x Uzumaki” trope, to making really ridiculous headcanons for Nagato being related to the Uchiha/Madara, to Nagato and Itachi having “meetings” or hell, just knowing who the other is before Edo Tensei. Itachi and Nagato are on friendly terms, yes, but they only knew each other for that very short period of time. Granted, I could be pulled into it with a really good Nagato. Someone who actually understands him. ]]

Sorry if you’ve gotten this before, but why did itachi tell Sasuke to kill Naruto? Wouldn’t he kind of be against that logic of kill your friends to get power, especially since he reacted to fiercely when accused of killing shisui?

[[ Itachi didn’t tell Sasuke to kill Naruto specifically.

You have to remember, when Itachi said those things to Sasuke, he was acting under a fake persona. This was the path he felt Sasuke needed to take to overcome him.

Normally, yes, Itachi would be against that logic. He wouldn’t, under neutral circumstances, tell his little brother of all people, that he needs to commit murder to become more powerful. But we’re dealing with “villain” Itachi now, who pretends that’s how he got the power, and thus that’s how Sasuke needs to get it. And again, he didn’t know Naruto would become Sasuke’s friend. It could’ve been anyone.

It’s meant to make Itachi look bad. It’s meant to make him look like a monster. A monster who is hungry enough for power that he would sacrifice his best friend for it. Obviously we as readers know that’s not how it happened, but that’s what Itachi wants Sasuke to believe.

At the tail end of the plan, it’s also likely meant to ensure that Sasuke gets Itachi’s eyes. Say that Sasuke did do it, and got the Mangekyo at that time? By this time, he’d have surely gone or was going blind. If we factor in that then, and only then, does Sasuke discover that the cure for the blindness is to take a relative’s eyes, then Sasuke will have to take them, as Itachi intended. ]]

that ask meme has me curious though, how would itachi react to someone interrupting his kiss with someone? whether its a peck, heated or a short intimate one??

[[ Well, I think if he was having a really intimate kiss he’d make sure he was in private, so he couldn’t be interrupted. As for something like a short kiss, probably…v little reaction. If he’s gotten to the point where he can kiss someone as a form of goodbye/greeting casually, someone walking in for that short moment probably isn’t gonna ruin it. ]]

I read that post you reblogged about the village using people as weapons and the terrible way they were treated, but im curious what you would say about itachi in all of this?

[[ What do you mean exactly, anon? Would I agree or disagree that Itachi was also used  by the village? Because he was definitely used.

In fact, a lot of the reason pro-village and pro-ending people hold Itachi up as a saint is because he never fought back. Even if he could recognize the village had faults, he never had it in him to actually fight against the system. That’s what makes him the perfect victim. Itachi would actually be perfectly justified in fighting back and being angry, but that’s simply not in his personality.

Sasuke is a “brat/selfish/made bad choices” because he fought back against a system that got his clan killed and their eyeballs handed around, but Itachi is “perfect/better/to be looked up to” because  he sacrificed himself for the village, who barely did anything in return for him. ]]

Why is itachi obsessed with sasuke? You mentioned it is because of how he came into the world..what do you mean?

[[ What I mean specifically is that the timing of Sasuke being born + the things Itachi was going through at the time resulted in Itachi’s obsession. Itachi was still dealing with his Father showing him the battlefield– a gorey mess of shinobi from all nations. Though Fugaku’s intention was to show Itachi the world would always be at odds and he needed to become strong so he wasn’t a body on the field, Itachi disagreed. He wanted to become strong to end the fighting once and for all.

When Sasuke is born, Itachi swells of feelings with protection. He wants to be more grown-up so his job can be protecting his sibling. Sasuke is innocent, he has yet to see the things Itachi has. And if Itachi does his job well? He never will. He wants Sasuke to have the peace he never got.

Itachi is an oddball in the case of kids who get an infant sibling. He never once feels jealous, and he actively wants Sasuke to get more attention from his parents. It actually ends up making Itachi angry when Sasuke gets ignored, or when people act in a way that Itachi thinks is negligent of Sasuke. Fugaku is too pre-occupied with Uchiha clan business to come to Sasuke’s Academy Ceremony? How dare you, I’m going to threaten to abandon my own mission. I’ll show up if you won’t, I actually love Sasuke, etc etc. (not at all saying Fugaku doesn’t love Sasuke, just how Itachi sees it.)

I’m going to pull the section where Sasuke is born. ]]

can obsession be considered love?

[[ I think the terms should be separate. They are two different things, and sometimes a person just feels one, and mistakes it for the other, and sometimes a person can feel both. Itachi did love him, but he also let that fester into an obsession with protecting his innocence.

At the end of his life he’s able to dial his obsession back into an unconditional love. So Itachi felt both. ]]

can itachi love izumi more than sasuke? why /why not?

[[ Itachi cannot love Izumi more than he loves Sasuke. Izumi would not come close.

The circumstances in which Sasuke entered Itachi’s life made for his obsession– they cannot easily be replicated. Itachi’s obsession with Sasuke is pretty extreme, and it wouldn’t actually help Izumi if Itachi obsessed over her in the same way. We shouldn’t wish that on other people >_>

He does care for her, and with his choice of death for her he would’ve willingly entered a relationship with her in the future had the massacre been avoided. But she would more or less be down on the ladder where everyone else is. Shisui is 2nd, and Sasuke is first. All “third” place is generally the same place and then people just fall off of it. ]]
