Do people know the truth about Itachi in Boruto’s time? Cos I just read a post that said it’s unfair that Itachi is considered a hero by the village for killing innocent people, whilst Sasuke’s treated like a criminal

[[ No, actually.

They don’t know the truth. The villagers were only told that Itachi helped during the war. and by this reason alone he should be considered a good person. I will show you the snippet. I do agree– it’s unfair. The villagers don’t even get to ask how it doesn’t make sense that Itachi would suddenly turn “good”, they’re just supposed to believe Naruto at face value.

They word it like admitting the coup d’etat would somehow sully the Uchiha name, not even mentioning the fact that the village worked to get the Uchiha killed.

Also “there was no one that doubted Naruto.” It makes literally 0 sense that Itachi, an S-rank criminal, should have his name cleared on Naruto’s word alone. So you’re telling me a mass murderer who killed all of his own family just decided to cozy up to Naruto and help during the war? But it’s Naruto who’s saying it, why doubt him?? kljsdfklflkfll.

Itachi didn’t want any sort of pardon. It’s Sasuke who deserved a much better pardon instead.

But we can’t have anything coming out that makes the village look bad. ]]

“Look behind you.”

“Perhaps  you ought to listen to your own advice.”

Itachi didn’t get this far without learning how to tell when he was being followed. This one was just a smidge less obvious, but he caught on in time, nonetheless.

He doesn’t dispel the genjutsu quite yet, wanting to collect information, first.

This was one of Sasuke’s new recruits, was it not…?

“I killed him.”

“I can….see that.”

The hallway is splattered with fresh blood, and Itachi can make out entrails and a kidney. The man’s headband bore the insignia of a shinobi from the land of Grass.

Spies and attempted assassinations were less common than they used to be. A test of a village’s abilities to repel unwanted intruders and to keep their highest ranked officers alive.

Still, Itachi frowns. He wishes this matter could have been handled without resorting to ending a life.

“Please simply incapacitate people in the future. My shinobi will take care of them.” Her help in keeping him safe was greatly appreciated, but could stand to be toned down quite a bit.

“Are you sure?”

“Absolutely.” He can see why Wy would be worried, but this is a task he wants to take on today.

The child, a healthy son of seven months, babbles in his sling on Itachi’s back, content with being able to see everything behind him. Itachi holds onto a bag in his right, packed full with every little thing Wy could think  he could need during the day.

“We’ll be back tonight, mm?” And he’s leaning down, gently, asking for a parting kiss before heading to the Hokage’s tower.

“Please don’t laugh.”

Iruka is….blue.

His skin, his clothes…even a good part of his hair.

The only positive out of this sight is that he currently isn’t dripping…but Itachi can’t say the same of the classroom Iruka had to be in when it happened.

Such was the risk of teaching jutsu to a classroom full of adolescents.

Itachi crosses his arms, leaning his left side against the doorway. His brows draw up. He won’t laugh, at least.

“I think green is more your color.” That’s the only thing he’ll say.

If you’re comparing fully canon itachi to itachi in a situation where none of that awful shit happened and danzo wasn’t a pustule and the clan and konoha were at peace, what do you think would be some major differences on his character?

[[ I can’t think of any right off the bat without like, very, very specific context. Does “none of the awful shit” include things like meeting the battlefield, having Tenma die and Shinko retire? I know you already mean the Kurama attack doesn’t occur (because that is what gets the Uchiha blamed for it), and by extension the massacre doesn’t, but I will need specifics.

He might be less of a pacifist if he didn’t see the battlefield, which spurned him on to try to ensure people wouldn’t kill each other. His deep protection of Sasuke would still be there, though, and he’d still very much be awful at socializing. ]]

What if Sasuke had arrived at the critical point and Orochimaru had just taken his body back then?

[[ I think I drew something for that a loooooong time ago. I probably wouldn’t like it anymore fjfjkslfk.

But, if such a thing were to happen and Itachi came across Orochimaru parading in Sasuke’s  body, we would get to figure out if it was possible to extract Orochimaru from the host body. Itachi’s absolutely going to try.

¯_(ツ)_/¯ ]]
