‘I’m bleeding…’

Random Angst Starters

Balancing his desire to protect Sasuke along with his desire to see him flourish was something Itachi hadn’t gotten the hang of, yet. Maybe one day.

But it was quite hard to resist those stuffed cheeks and glistening eyes, begging and pleading to use big brother’s sharpened kunai set, instead of the dull practice set he was usually handed off. I’m old enough to handle real ones! Please, just this once, Nii-san…

And his grip…had slipped.

“You pulled the skin apart.” Itachi oh so gently chastises, loosely draping himself over Sasuke’s smaller form, and pulling Sasuke’s right away from his left. He kept his blades the sharpest they could be, perhaps its what gave Sasuke such a clean slice, like a fine, but long paper cut. He gently presses the skin of Sasuke’s palm back together, to encourage the wound to naturally shut.

A man of many talents he was, but medical ninjutsu was not one of them.

“Don’t pick at it.” Sasuke gets another warning after Itachi catches him prodding, and without any further debate he picks his brother up into his arms, headed towards the district. “We’ll get you some medicine and bandages when we’re home.”

“Okay, Nii-san…” Sasuke sounds defeated, but his appreciation for the affection his big brother is showing shines through.

“What was going through your mind throughout all of this? Did you stop and realize that there were other families aside from your own that would be affected?”

Thank you, Madara. It isn’t as if he hasn’t already spent every waking day thinking about this. Already, the rest of the clan is out for his blood. Naturally, Yashiro and his friends are calling for the removal of his eyes, and banishment from the district.

Two responses well in his throat, but he swallows them down, refusing to initiate eye contact.

They cannot feel anything in death.

Those families were supporting the rebellion and would have been killed by the ANBU, if not me.

Neither of those sounds right– neither of those will get Madara to leave him alone.

So it is his fault that Danzo chose him to enact his wish? Always it’s the idea that Itachi was acting on his own, that no one else was pushing him into anything.

He cannot find a response. He gives Madara nothing. He won’t answer a man who is just like his Father in terms of reasoning.

‘What is it? What’s wrong? Why are you looking at me like that?’

Every now and then, it hit Itachi just how stunted he was in terms of regular human socialization. What he considered normal, eventually shattered. A comment from Shisui was not enough, but watching families idle in the market stalls, studying the type of casual touch they displayed… Their innate trust and comfort in each other…

“Nothing.” He lies, stupidly, but it’s with an apologetic smile, finally picking up his heavy feet to cross the distance in the kitchen.

Wy is a perfect example of this. She knows so very little about him, their marriage out of convenience as opposed to the more common system of lovers to spouses. And yet, her arms come open when he is close enough, wrapping loosely around his waist.

“I’m glad you’re here.” He adds– something which will only add to the confusion instead of alleviating it, but his tone is genuine, a hand resting atop her head gently. At least there is someone here to teach him to be normal, even if they don’t mean to.

would itachi really reject sasuke if he confessed ?

[[ Yes, he would. As much as I love Itasasu, Itachi would be an obstacle to it. There are several reasons for this.

1) They are blood brothers.
2) They are both men.
3) Even if Itachi came to terms with #1 and #2, the most important thing is he doesn’t feel worthy of being in a relationship with Sasuke. He’s hurt him too much, and it’s likely he’ll hurt him again. He would much rather Sasuke find someone else– someone else who hasn’t hurt him in the way Itachi did. All of these apply even if Itachi shares the feelings Sasuke does. He just ultimately doesn’t think he’s the right person for him.

Mind you, a rejection likely wouldn’t be enough to halt Sasuke. If he’s determined, he’ll keep pushing. With enough pushing, Itachi will eventually relent. Sure, it’s going to be difficult for him to get past the “not worthy” thing, but if it makes Sasuke happy, he will give in. ]]

Okay I was thinking about sasuke. You know how right after the massacre itachi asks hiruzen to protect sasuke? And then hiruzen doesn’t do a damn thing for him /and/ keeps him in the chuunin exams even after the whole orochimaru bullshit. Like damn itachi did all that for the village and they would do anything for him OR sasuke damn fuck that guy

[[ Unfortunately, Hiruzen’s idea of protecting Sasuke is keeping him within the village. Like….that’s it. That’s as far as it goes.

Hiruzen also promised Kushina he’d take care of Naruto. He gave Naruto a home which I’m assuming is free of rent/utility payments, and that….was it! And his decree of not telling people Naruto was Jinchuuriki was pointless because Danzo let it spread and Hiruzen didn’t buckle down on it.

If you were to ask Hiruzen, he kept his part of the deal. In his POV, if they are inside the village, there’s little to no threat to them. They are “safe” there. Their mental state and individual needs be damned. If they’re alive, that’s all that matters. I do agree Hiruzen didn’t do anything worthwhile, and he basically ignored them. He even put the village’s obsession with Sasuke being an Uchiha over Sasuke himself– in the case of the Chuunin exams. Meh, who cares if he’s been curse marked by my ex student, the whole village wants to see how powerful the last Uchiha is. Sasuke is entertainment, not someone Hiruzen legitimately cares about. ]]

Do you know where I can read translated novels for itachi and the akatsuki hiden one?

[[ Itachi’s novels are both available on amazon. Here is #1, and here is #2.

I am not sure on Akatsuki’s story, but it looks like it’s not being fan-translated. I can’t find it on amazon. The wiki has a summary up of it.

I recommend buying the novels when available, such as Itachi’s. There was someone on tumblr posting their own fan-translation, which is now taken down. They took it down themselves, and this is the right thing to do– to read the fully officially translated novel I suggest supporting it via buying it. They’re not that expensive and are available for kindle. So if your phone can run the Kindle app, you can read these books. Windows also has a kindle app. ]]

What views would you guess itachi had about the afterlife? Do you think he worried about ending up in a ‘hell’? I know the series philosophy would take after eastern religions, but I assume there’s still some sort of ‘bad place.’

[[ I would assume if Itachi believed in a “lower/bad” place, he’d end up there. He knows his actions aren’t positive, but I also don’t think he’s gunning for any sort of consciousness in the afterlife.

We know from Zabuza and Haku that they believe in some sort of hell, but it’s unknown whether that’s simply a Mist belief or a widespread belief.

We know from canon that there are three realms of existence. The living, the middle ground, and the afterlife. The middle ground is where people like Sakumo and Rin end up. Where they are still able to keep a watch on the world of the living and interact with others who end up there. The full afterlife has NO consciousness. Haku and Zabuza have no idea what happened after they ended up dying because they went straight into the actual afterlife, where they are cut off from the world of the living and a continued stream of consciousness.

So basically, if the belief of some sort of hell was universal among the five nations, Itachi would no doubt believe he’d end up there, but it wouldn’t be something he would focus on. ]]
