❃ Mussing their hair

Acts of Affection

❃ Mussing their hair

Physical affection was something that, as a whole…Itachi was unaccustomed to. It didn’t help that he’d previously only two people in his life who dared to touch him in such a way. One, his mentor and best friend, and the other, his adorable, innocent baby brother.

Everyday, he learns something new about Noctis. Whether it’s his abilities, his royal lineage, what King and Prince actually mean, or…common gestures of affection.

Itachi knows the hand coming his way isn’t a threat, he’s spent enough time with the man as it is. But that doesn’t stop the light flinch, and the way his eyes screw shut as the rough hand does a good job of messing up his hair, strands from the ponytail coming loose, some even free.

He’s left at a loss of what to do, does he untie and fix it or leave it as is?

“Too much?” Noctis asks, in that gravelly voice of his, withdrawing his hand respectfully. Yet Itachi finds himself softly apologizing as he tries to smooth his hair down, because Noctis didn’t mean him any harm.

Acts of Affection

✩  Grooming, brushing, or tending to their hair.

It’s more than simply tending to his hair.

It is a means of control.

Itachi is fully aware of the intent behind Sasuke’s actions. His brother is his, and he will decide how Itachi dresses for the day, and how he will wear his long hair, which now has an actual shine due to access to regular baths, and decent shampoo.

Itachi used up all of his cards long ago, and knows that relinquishing this control to Sasuke keeps him complacent, and more importantly, within the village walls.

Sasuke’s fingers are gentle, fingers against Itachi’s scalp as they brush through the locks first, before he even goes for the brush. Sasuke’s pleased his brother no longer has that many split ends, and the length is almost even– save for the bangs.

He opts for a higher ponytail. Not too lose, and not too tight, Itachi tilting his head back when necessary.

Itachi stands when called, and will remain by Sasuke’s side, lest someone be brave enough to pick him off again.

Not today.

This was one of the reasons he absolutely detested times when Akatsuki had to be brought together in one building. None of them knew how to knock.

He shouldn’t have even tried to shower in the first place.

Itachi simply slams the door shut, and locks it for good measure, not a word slipping from his mouth about what Hidan may or may not have seen.

Keep away.

Sasuke had already seen him without his clothes a number of times. It draws little reaction from him, though he does set the rag aside.

Did he want something…?

//the card-making company put out an s-rank mission’s pay to whoever could get Sasuke’s picture for his card and no one can convince me otherwise

[[ Well, it’s either that or Naruto nagging and nagging and nagging until Sasuke sat still for two seconds to take a photo.

I can easily excuse having photos of Sasuke pre-war. They used a genin photo for his bingo book photo and Karin had a photo of him in his (at the time) current outfit on her person. But anything post-war is….headcanon territory.

But omg. We know Naruto wants his face plastered everywhere, he was all too happy to send out photos of him as a kid or henge into…..

I just ruined my own headcanon >_>

Naruto probably henged into Sasuke to pose for the Sasuke photos. ]]

Well, that was.. a good answer. “It won’t always be easy.” He nods once, a simple sign of approval, “If you’re not opposed, I wish to put you through a series of scenarios and see how you would handle them as Hokage. May I?”

“I’d be honored.” Please. Though, it’s a little difficult to take training from someone who admitted to hate the position, but he’ll take what he can get. He’s had this dream since he was four years old, nothing’s going to stop him now.

“No need. Sit down.” It can be seen as an order, but it’s a request, “I merely wish to see what your views are. Because I need to know how you would handle things in this position, Itachi.” He couldn’t just hand this title over to anyone, after all.

This is difficult. Itachi has a bad history of being honest with his views and being shut down. If it’s not his clan, yelling at him during their meetings, then it’s how his Father doesn’t stand up for him, and even the incident with his students ridiculed him tied into it, even if Itachi had convinced himself they just didn’t get it, they weren’t on his level of understanding.

He sits, and it is stiffly, trying to get the words to come out.

“A hokage has the power to forge political connections a regular shinobi does not. I would be able to attend meetings not only with other Kage, but the Daimyo of each country. It is better to stem off any fighting with discussion before it begins.” Before another war got a chance to brew.

Was that good enough?

“No. I will remain Hokage until I pass on.” Which was possible at any given time, given this job, “I merely want to know what you see this title as, Itachi. Because I can assure you – it’s not a position deserving of respect.”

“I respectfully disagree.” And he could continue to disagree.

He begins to open his mouth to explain why. How he wants peace, how the title will help him. It will open the doors to other countries, allow him to spread his word, to form lasting political bonds that will help cement peace now and for the future.

But he firmly clamps his mouth shut. If the Hokage doesn’t even believe him, why should he explain himself. He will only be met with more ridicule.

“I will attend to my duties.”

“Because it came down, in the end, to only two people.” He wouldn’t lie to Itachi, not even on this. The pencil is set down and his gaze turns to the teenager, “Me or Orochimaru. If I hadn’t accepted, it would have been him. Possibly even Danzo-sama, considering he’s been after the position. Would you rather I have stepped down then?”

Itachi can understand that, then. That does make sense. Certainly wouldn’t want a criminal known for experimenting on humans having access to important records and the ability to make and enforce laws.

“Is the purpose of this to tell me you seek retirement soon.”

“Very important position, huh?” Glancing at the stacks of paperwork on the desk, he knows exactly what kind of position it is. “I detest it.” Spoken as if he’s commenting on the weather, he signs off on another document, “I never wished for it.”

“Why accept it then.” He’s on full defense now, not quite wanting to let that statement sink in.

“A Hokage is elected through both popular and Council vote, and Inaugurated soon after. You had time to refuse, and allow another decision to be made.” Itachi knows people like his Father were also gunning for the position, only to be entirely overlooked.
