Sasuke stopped..his eyes widened..his saw a figure ahead..though no normal person would be able to, him having the sharingan he saw the hooded figure.

Sasuke walked towards it and he as he got closer his heart raced. “Who are you” he asked, his voice firm but no hostility in it.
Sasukes rinnegan still hidden behind his long bangs.

Sasuke felt no other nearby chakra. He walked a little closer. “I mean you no harm” he stated. His eyes intensely on the figures hood.

And thus, he had made his first grand mistake.

Coming too close.

That voice– even after years, was so recognizable it hurt. Struck him deep, and willed his feet to the spot. He should go. He had no place here, this was only interfering.

“It’s…been some time, Sasuke.” He holds his hands up to signal defeat, face carefully peeking out from the hood. His expression is apologetic, and only with Sasuke he’ll allow it to be some form of sheepish. You caught me, it says.

Naruto sighed and sat down. “Get the uchiha for me” he said.
Shikamaru nodded and with a cloud of smoke disappeared.

Sasuke his eyes still glued to the leaf gates heard his name called as a loud pop was heard behind him. “I am busy” he said emotionlessly.
Shikamaru furrowed his brows. “Yea..looks it” he quipped sarcastically…“the Hokage wants to see you..it is pretty important.”

Sasuke fought the urge to roll his eyes.
“Fine..” Sasuke replied wearily.
He reluctantly deactivated his sharingan and flickered into the hokage’s office.

Naruto looked at sasuke as he appeared. “Hey..There has been what appears to have been an Edo tensai near here, I need to to go scout the area”

Sasuke felt his left eye twitch. “I see..that doesn’t make any sense though..are you sure?”
Naruto handed him the scroll..“read this..its what came here earlier”

Sasuke read the scroll and then gave it back. Without a word he disappeared.
“Ill nee- damn it, I wasn’t through talking teme!” Naruto hollered out to an empty room.

Sasuke walked out of the leaf gates..his eyes slowing fading to red.

The roads are different. Though, still traveled. Itachi does not choose to use them, however, as it would give him away too quickly. Instead, they get spared glances as he weaves in and out of the neighboring forests.

Paranoid, he pulls his hood over him, to obscure his face.

…He can see the gates. They seem higher. But they are whole, and this means his mission all those years ago was a success.

In the end, he can’t help but wonder how Sasuke is doing. What choice did his little brother make in the end?

Naruto was once again in a very bad mood.
It seemed all he and Hinata did anymore was argue. If he was honest with him himself..he had only married her thinking he could grow to love her, well..love her like he should. he really honestly thought he could. But there had always been something missing..he just wasn’t sure what. He did love her but wasn’t in love.

He also missed going out on missions.
Where did he go wrong exactly?
Suddenly his office door was thrown open, Shikamaru bursts in and handed Naruto a scrolln. “This is urgent, I was told to deliver this to you pronto” shikamaru said.

“Ok..” He opened the scroll. It was a neighboring village, saying they had spotted some enormous forbidden jutsu chakra around the area. It goes on to say by the time it was checked out, all evidence and persons were gone, but there had been an open casket left behind. It appears to be the reminents of a Edo tensai jutsu.

Naruto felt a chill go through him and he showed it to shikamaru. “This is odd..there shouldn’t be anyone left who can do this..and who did they revive?” Naruto asked, his brows knitted.

Shikamaru sighed..“I don’t know but..this isn’t good..at all”

Sasuke stood near the leaf village gates..his black cloak around him..his red and black eyes stared intensely at the Leaf gates.

Itachi had died with the hopes that the obsession over Uchiha, both from those in and out of his clan– would slowly die out with him. He was a fool, to think something like this could simply change completely, even if allotted twenty years time.

Even now, near thirty years after the massacre, those wanted the eyes of an Uchiha badly enough to scrape years old blood and dead skin from a battlefield where two brothers fought, and enact techniques long forbidden.

But in their haste, they have neglected the need to keep him under control, and Itachi’s strength has not waned any. His captors, thrilled but weak, are quickly apprehended, though Itachi does not strike to kill.

How long has it been, he wonders. Months, or years? He won’t know if he doesn’t explore, and the first thing that comes to mind is his home village.

Even if…he can’t get any farther than the gates.
