you’re not owed disclosure of csa or incest survivor status because someone reads thorki or wincest or whatever and you don’t like it

i’m not trying to defend myself here btw. i blacklist canonically abusive ships like rhack & samifer, and incestuous ships like the above before i ever touch a fic archive, actually. this is just something i feel strongly about as a victim of incestuous rape; i’m really sick of my existence being weaponized by the ~last line of defense against evil, evil fiction~.

some people who read (or write) Bad Ships are using it to relate to their own life experiences; some people who read (or write) Bad Ships are interested in the narrative—with either the plot seeming interesting in spite of the ship, or maybe they’re interested in how the relationship is approached and plays out; some people who read (or write) Bad Ships are doing it because they think it’s hot.

surviviors exist in every category listed, and no one is ever obligated to tell you their tragic backstory to be ~allowed~ to read something that’s perfectly legal. and if someone isn’t a survivor, but they still read fic like this for whatever reason? cool! i’m glad they don’t have that trauma, personally.

it’s not your job or my job or anyone’s job to police the themes in the books or fic that people read, and reading something doesn’t mean endorsing it; even if it did, there’s a huge difference between what is overwhelmingly consensual late-teenage or adult sibling incest with no traditional victim to speak of, and, say, my own experiences being raped as a preschooler by the person who was supposed to protect me. somebody reading the first doesn’t mean they think the second was okay or that i deserved it.

incest fic is not incest apologism.

(( idea: Yamato, old, tired, unappreciated, being sweet talked into taking a day off inside Orochimaru’s base, to get the rest he sorely needs. Konoha doesn’t do enough for you, have some food, have some drink, here’s a soft bed…. surely you can get better Intel from the inside…? Do stay a while.))

Listen, if you’re someone who believes fictional ships can normalize rape, abuse, murder, child molestation, etc. – then you’re also categorized alongside people who:

  • believe videogames normalize and make human beings go out and murder people and commit violence acts,
  • those who believe fantasy games and stories create devil worshippers
  • that heavy metal music and rock music create satanic lesbians, violent criminals
  • who believe stories involving homosexual/nonstraight characters “make/turn” their children into “fags, queers, sinful homosexuals”

If you believe fictional ships and stories have that heavy of an impact on society, then you automatically believe all that other shit I listed above.

So, congrats.

Im not anti itachi or anything but I do honestly think he was a more interesting villain thats just how I am though. Not a fan of redemption archs it just seems like a cop out to make a bad character and then back pedal like that. Gimmi some good villains who are actually bad!!!!

[[ Here’s the thing though, and while it isn’t my intent to argue with you, you’ve used a line of logic that I see frequently from anti-itachi people, basically the idea that he was “always” presented as a villain. Itachi was a shitty, questionable villain to begin with, and I couldn’t see this until I started re-watching/re-reading. Hell, Itachi’s English voice actor was able to tell that Itachi was never truly evil, and he actually got a lot of emails trying to prove him wrong until the literal canon proved him right.

There was no “back pedaling” done with Itachi, it was always there, and too many people ignored it and are choosing to ignore it now.

This is highlighted first in the official episode he appears in. For someone who supposedly killed his clan on a complete whim, he openly states he doesn’t want to fight Asuma and Kurenai. Asuma even calls him out on it! It’s weird! You’re a highly wanted murderer, why are you acting as if you have mercy, etc?? And Kisame complains multiple times that Itachi just doesn’t let him fight/kill people and how his methods attract too much attention. Itachi wants to be low key, stealthy, and avoids hurting people, preferring Genjutsu instead.

Sasuke in the hotel? Well, we can’t apply Classic™ Abuser logic here, because an abuser seeks to isolate their target and will willingly chase them. Itachi’s not chasing anyone. While Sasuke is 100% NOT at fault for what happened to him here, Itachi would have never hurt Sasuke like this had Sasuke not shown up. Again– I’m NOT placing blame on Sasuke for showing up, but it is important to recognize that Itachi didn’t come here with the intent of hurting Sasuke further. Wrong place, wrong time, and he was forced to “prove” he was still a villain in Sasuke’s eyes.

And no one noticed how fishy the flashbacks were, during the VOTE fight? How there was clearly some tension going on between Itachi and his Father, how Itachi immediately drops to his knees and begs for forgiveness when he realizes Sasuke’s witnessed him showing actual murderous intent. That’s a huge fuckin’ deal.

It’s another sign that we DON’T know the real reason the massacre happened– something is UP with Itachi and eventually we will get to find out.

Criticize Itachi for treating Sasuke as a thing to protect, criticize him for his plan to get Sasuke to kill him and be a hero, criticize him for the multiple times he’s used genjutsu to make him relive his trauma, etc. But please don’t pretend he was better off as a “true villain”, or that the reveal was “out of nowhere”/”not hinted at” or “backpedaling.” The signs were always there.

There isn’t a shortage of villains in Naruto who are actually bad people– why does Itachi need to be one of them?? ]]

Why do people think it’s cool to be anti-Itachi? Is it cos he’s so popular?

[[ It’s partly because he’s a very popular character and partly also because they feel he got “unfairly” exonerated from the Uchiha clan Massacre. They act as if he’s solely responsible for it, and that he legitimately killed them out of pure spite and malice, not the product of manipulation by peers since a young age who wanted to kill the whole clan, regardless if Itachi cooperated or not.

You’ll often find phrases such as “over-rated”, “better off as a villain”, and so on.

Now, I’m not saying people have to like him or be neutral. But at least make sense in your reasons. You can’t act as if he was completely to blame for the massacre because that’s just not canon in any way, shape, or form. ]]

“A word for those talking about “grooming” and this goddamned writing shit: You have no idea what grooming is, do you? Pedophiles don’t fucking use that sort of writing for grooming. They use the kid’s favorite item, food, or cartoon characters to groom. Sometimes they even take the whole “meaning of friendship” and use that. Y’all are fucking disgusting by trying to police this shit while not knowing shit. Fucking do your homework, people. Writing about something doesn’t mean you condone it, either.“

If Itachi’s plan hadn’t failed/had gone as he wanted, how would Sasuke’s life have been?

[[ Oh jeez, well, that banks on Sasuke…not being Sasuke, basically.

Even if Obito hadn’t been there to manipulate Sasuke w/ the truth and turn him violently against the village, I don’t think Sasuke would’ve just gone back to the village. Itachi’s plan was for Sasuke to go back and be lauded as a hero for killing Itachi, and with having “betrayed” the village by joining Orochimaru, it probably wouldn’t have gone over so easy. Still easier than anyone else would get (since Naruto is buddies with Tsunade and would’ve gotten Sasuke pardoned) but it just…

It wouldn’t have felt the same, to Sasuke. He spent so many years obsessing over killing Itachi, and now that’s over. Where does he put his attention? Where does this unresolved anger go to? Who’s his new target?? He hasn’t been allowed the time to let things clear up and now he’ll never get real answers out of Itachi and Naruto’s still being Naruto, so he might end up being harassed into going back but he’d just (like he does now lmao) go through the motions.

Itachi would’ve left him more messed up. Especially if we go with the idea of Sasuke taking Itachi’s eyes and then fighting Naruto– welp, then you’ve got a Sasuke permanently under Kotoamatsukami. ]]

queenmikoto:

Guys…

Sasuke changed clothes and grabbed his sword between the explosion and seeing Naruto.

In his room there is no rope belt, cloth skirt, or sword in sight or pants for that matter. He probably had the sword nearby but he seems to be wearing a full length yukata with a simple obi. Then he changes into this.

Something I am vaguely remembering possibly incorrectly about how the payment works with jonin and why it was much cheaper and more effective to hire the akatsuki as mercenaries

[[ I don’t think that has much to do with compensating kids of dead Chuunin/Jonin, though. That’s more on people not being able to afford regular shinobi work and turning to Akatsuki or what more commonly happens, big villages hiring Akatsuki to do their most dirtiest/nastiest/secret work so it can’t  be traced back to them and start a war, also for very cheap. ]]
