[[ Actually, again, on the subject of Orochimaru;

People leaving him alone/refusing to do a real hunt for him isn’t anything new.

I know this is what a lot of Anti-Orochimaru is centered around. “Why did no one try to kill him again” “Why can he run around free doing what he wants” “Why has he not been punished/jailed” etc. And I know Sasuke poses to him the question of jail-time in his own novel.

But think about it. Hasn’t it been like this all along?

Hiruzen never organized a true hunt for Orochimaru. Neither to kill him or to jail him. The reason being he still felt sorry for him. So Orochimaru got to run his bases and experiments with minimal Leaf Village interference. 

Jiraiya was looking for him– but not to kill him. He still wanted to bring his old “friend” back. 

Naruto only turned his focus on Orochimaru because Sasuke ran away to him. That’s why Orochimaru was dangerous in Naruto’s mind, because he had a pull on Sasuke and wanted Sasuke’s body. As far as Naruto’s logic is concerned…

Orochimaru not currently going after Sasuke/having Sasuke in his bases by force/Sasuke not wanting to stay with him = Orochimaru isn’t dangerous and poses no threat. 

Naruto legit doesn’t care unless Orochimaru turns his sights on Sasuke. 

So this isn’t a “bad/lazy writing” issue, Naruto himself just doesn’t care unless Orochimaru goes after Sasuke.]]

Man, I love Orochimaru.

The reason he can run around freely in the Leaf and is otherwise undisturbed in his bases is because he had a kid, and fandom as a whole is so obsessed with kids that they take that as proof he’s a good person. I’ve literally seen people argue seriously that he’s 100% redeemed and is a wholesome person, despite Taka being stuck with him, erasing Mitsuki’s memory six times, letting Shin loose, etc.

Basically, 95% of fandom heard he had a kid and fell for it. And like– I like the fanart too. I like to see it. It’s cute, but it serves the purpose of reinforcing the idea that parents with their kids are cute/good people. It’s a psychology thing. And not only did it work within canon, it worked outside of it. The worst Naruto can do is notice Orochimaru looks younger. He’ll walk right into a base and back out. No punches. Nothing. Yamato is stuck watching him for life. 

Orochimaru is truly the best manipulator, being able to woo people within the story and outside of it. Everytime writing or fanart is produced of him coddling/hovering over Mitsuki, of him with a very young Mitsuki, etc, it only plays into this. The child makes most of us willingly forget what he’s done before and never apologized for. There is almost zero discussion on what Orochimaru succeeds in parenting vs where he fails compared to Naruto and Sasuke. He calls Mitsuki to check up on him? Clearly this means he’s all around a better parent than Naruto and Sasuke. What memory-erasing??? /s

Orochimaru said he loved Mitsuki dearly and most everyone just fell for it. But I still love Orochimaru, not because I condone what he’s done, not because I agree with him, but because he is truly the best manipulator there is.  ]]

[[ I can forgive posts that are obviously joking/trolling about Mitsuki/Log being the combination of Orochimaru+Someone Else With White/Silver Hair (insert popular Oro ships here), but I can’t forgive posts that are like…serious. That seriously try to meta out who Orochimaru “did the dirty with” to produce Mitsuki and Log. 

Did no one read the one-shot? Orochimaru refers to Log and Mitsuki as synthetic humans. They’re not produced like regular humans are. They’re different. 

Orochimaru hasn’t been fully human in some time, and his body from the 4th war onwards is a Zetsu. Why would someone like Orochimaru, who is a scientist, who can and does play god whenever he wants to and often disobeys the “normal” rules of science for funsies, bother with something like insemination/pregnancy? Pregnancy is risky, the man has access to lots of tubes/equipment and Mitsuki/Log were obviously made in his lab. There he has control of lots of factors and doesn’t have to deal with a) himself being pregnant or b)watching someone else’s pregnancy. Mitsuki is only 12 but was born with sage abilities, and has Orochimaru’s stretching ability.

It also matters that Orochimaru calls himself Mitsuki’s parent. He doesn’t call himself a parent out of a set of two. He doesn’t refer to himself as Father, or Mother, he refers to himself as the sole parent because he is their sole creator. There isn’t mixing two sets of dna here, Orochimaru is the only progenitor. 

Give Orochimaru some credit, man.     ]]

°Orochimaru probably has tablets. He already has tons of computers and electric lighting, it would make sense for him to have plenty of iPad style tablets for his work. Convenient, easy to store like a clipboard, travel with you.
